NoaBox vs Jira
A Simpler Jira Alternative

Jira is the most configurable tracker there is, with an enormous app marketplace. NoaBox is for small and mid-size software teams who want a backlog, sprints, docs and an AI teammate working on day one, at one flat price per workspace.

Choose NoaBox if

  • You want a backlog, sprints and docs working on day one, without configuring workflows and schemes
  • You want docs and files in the same tool, instead of adding Confluence
  • You'd rather pay one flat price than per user, as Jira Standard moves to $9.70 per user on October 13, 2026
  • You want an AI assistant on the free plan; Jira's Rovo starts on paid plans

JChoose Jira if

  • You need deeply customized workflows, fields and permission schemes
  • You depend on Marketplace apps (Atlassian lists over 3,000 for Jira)
  • You plan across many teams with dependencies, capacity and scenarios on Jira Premium
  • You need SSO and SCIM, data residency, uptime SLAs or native mobile apps

Where Each One
Is Stronger

Where Jira is stronger

  • Workflow power

Custom workflows with directional transitions and custom fields on every plan. NoaBox offers custom statuses, not full workflow schemes.

  • The Marketplace

Over 3,000 apps for Jira. NoaBox connects to GitHub and Slack.

  • Cross-team planning

Jira Premium adds advanced planning, cross-project dependencies, capacity and scenario modeling. NoaBox has no timeline or dependencies.

  • Scale and guarantees

Up to 100,000 users per site and financially backed uptime SLAs on Premium and Enterprise.

  • Apps and automation

iOS and Android apps on every plan, and built-in automation from Free. NoaBox is web only and has no automations.

Where NoaBox is stronger

  • A flat price

30 people cost $49 a month on NoaBox Pro, against $291 on Jira Standard billed monthly from October 13.

  • Docs without a second product

Pages, a file drive and password-protected pages live in each project, with no Confluence subscription.

  • Working on day one

Projects start with a sensible flow (Backlog, Todo, In progress, In review, Done) that you can rename and extend.

  • Roles on the free plan

Owner, admin, member and viewer roles on every plan. On Jira Free, every user is an admin.

  • AI on every plan

Noa drafts tickets from a PRD or CSV and answers questions, on Free too. Rovo starts on Jira's paid plans.

Switching

Moving From Jira
Without Losing The Backlog

  1. 1

    Export from Jira

Export the issues you're moving to CSV from Jira's issue search.

  2. 2

Let Noa propose the work items

Attach the CSV in Ask Noa. It proposes the work items and you confirm each one, so this suits up to a few hundred issues (500 rows per sheet). There's no one-click importer yet.

  3. 3

    Connect and invite

Connect GitHub so new commits that mention a NoaBox key link themselves, connect Slack, and invite the team at no extra cost per person.

FAQ

NoaBox vs Jira

  • For small and mid-size software teams that want a backlog, sprints and docs without configuring Jira, often yes, and the price stays flat as the team grows. If you depend on custom workflows, Marketplace apps or cross-team planning, Jira does far more.

  • Jira Free covers up to 10 users with 2 GB of storage, but every user is an admin and Rovo AI isn't included. NoaBox Free also covers 10 members, with roles and Noa included.

  • From October 13, 2026, Jira Standard is $9.70 per user a month billed monthly, so 30 people cost $291 a month. NoaBox Pro covers up to 50 members for a flat $49 a month.

  • There's no one-click importer yet. Export your issues to CSV and attach the file in Ask Noa: Noa proposes the work items and you confirm each one. It works best for backlogs of up to a few hundred issues.

  • For many small teams, yes: each project has pages for specs and decisions and a file drive next to the tickets. Confluence is much richer, with nested pages, comments and version history that NoaBox pages don't have yet.
